Aoraki Mount Cook’s Hermitage Hotel is adding some ‘sparkle’ to New Zealand’s winter calendar with its new Winter Ball next month.
The Hermitage General Manager Andrew Cleverly says the black tie event on Saturday 31 July is a great excuse to dress up, slip on some dancing shoes and prepare to party the night away in a magical winter wonderland.
“Mount Cook is absolutely spectacular in winter so we wanted to celebrate it in true Hermitage style with an event that’s glamorous, inspiring and lots of fun.”
Ball-goers begin the evening with canapés and Lindauer bubbles in The Snowline Lounge from 6pm then move through to the Alpine Restaurant which will be transformed into a shimmering ice-blue, white and silver winter wonderland.
A fabulous three-course dinner matched with premium South Island wines will be served and guests will have the opportunity to hear from inspirational guest speaker and famous mountaineer Mark Inglis.
After dinner the funky jazz sounds of The Tim Driver Band will have the crowd on the dance floor chasing any winter blues away.
Mr Cleverley says they’re aiming for about 180 guests to attend the ball and he’s keen to see people make a weekend of it.
“We’re seating 10 to a table so people can either get a group together or come on their own and make some new friends. We’re also offering some great packages to encourage people to stay and play so that they have the flexibility of dancing the night away or retiring to their room but still being able to wake up and enjoy a day of fun in the snow.”
Ball tickets are $150 per person and include canapés, a three-course gala dinner, drinks and entertainment.
Tickets and a range of Winter Ball packages, which give sharp savings on accommodation and dining, are available online at www.hermitage.co.nz/winterball or by phoning the Reservations team on 0800 68 68 00 (03 435 1809).
