2010 MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL

In 2010 the Melbourne International Jazz Festival presents a huge international program exploring the common chord of jazz

From May 1 to 8 May, the Melbourne International Jazz Festival (MIJF) - one of Australia’s hallmark music events - showcases the creativity and diversity of jazz as an art form, across the mediums of music, literature, film and visual art. The rich program of more than 100 events features leading international and Australian jazz artists, with an unprecedented number of Australian premieres and Festival-exclusive performances.

The Festival program has something for everyone; including headline concerts by some of the modern masters of jazz at venues including the Melbourne Recital Centre, Hamer Hall, Melbourne Town Hall, and the Forum. A series of intimate concerts and master classes will be presented at BMW Edge, the Forum Upstairs, the CUB Malthouse, and the much-loved Bennetts Lane Jazz Club. MIJF will continue its exploration of jazz and the arts with the return of ACMI Jazz on Film and Jazz at the NGV as well as introducing major public art installations, a whole new Jazz For Kids program and daily free concerts at Federation Square that the entire family can enjoy.

For musicians, avid jazz fans, families and absolutely all lovers of music, this is a time to be entertained, to discover, to be inspired and most importantly, to participate.
