Passengers on Dawn Princess’ world cruise will be able to enjoy a truly international holiday, with the superliner featuring the 2010 FIFA World Cup on its giant poolside movie screen as the ship travels the globe.
Princess Cruises plans to broadcast 20 World Cup matches on a selection of its ships - including the Australian-based Dawn Princess and Sun Princess - after securing the rights to show the Cup.
With both superliners offering giant seven-metre by four-metre LED screens with 60,000-watt sound systems on their top decks, passengers will feel like they are part of the action, enjoying superb resolution images and great sound as they take in the football games day and night.
The World Cup began on June 11 with Dawn Princess off the coast of India during her present 104-night world cruise. The Cup concludes on July 11 when the ship will be en-route to Paris from Gibraltar.
Meanwhile, Sun Princess will be sailing a series of Asian cruises from Fremantle during the World Cup month.
The broadcasts on both superliners will include nine first round games featuring Australia, New Zealand and England, as well as all quarter-final matches, both semi-finals, the runner-up game and the World Cup Final.
The games will be shown in a range of venues throughout the ships, including on their signature Movies Under the Stars screens.
