Savvy travellers can take advantage of Tourism Australia’s latest holiday planning technology – The OZ Planner iphone application.
The free application uses mapping technology to give users direct access to more than 20,000 tourism products and services in Australia such as accommodation, car hire and tour providers.
Tourism Australia New Zealand Regional Manager, Jenny Aitken says “Kiwis already have a huge appetite for Australia and this new technology will assist travellers in accessing new and exciting experiences right around Australia”.
Users of the application can browse 16 suggested Australian itineraries to see highlights, images and recommended activities.
Detailed holiday plans can be stored in the phone making access to them easy when the traveller arrives in Australia. The application works with GPS technology and enables travellers to orientate themselves to nearby product during their travels.
“It’s like having local knowledge in the palm of your hand” says Aitken.
You can use the application to search the area you are in for a certain type of restaurant or a great attraction, activity and then get directions to it”.
The OZ Planner iphone application is an extension of Tourism Australia’s online holiday planning tool walkaboutplanner.australia.com.
Tourism Australia hopes to benefit from the application by gaining further insight into mobile user preferences to better market to this audience.
