Flights begin from Air Tahiti Nui

Air Tahiti Nui has commenced a limited number of flights to help passengers stranded by the strike in Papeete (Travel Today, yesterday).

The airline secured approval from the Government of French Polynesia to begin
moving stranded passengers. Full schedules are currently being restored. Around 1600
passengers were moved into and out of Papeete last night.

Passengers travelling from Papeete to New Zealand and Australia on TN 101 will
depart Tahiti early Wednesday (local time), and arrive in Sydney at 8.55am tomorrow. Flight TN 102 is set to depart Auckland at 2.05pm on Thursday, bound for Papeete.

Meanwhile, Qantas is offering a waiver for passengers travelling to Tahiti on or before June 17. Passengers can defer travel, return to their point of origin or bypass Tahiti as a stopover point, all without penalty.
